General Questions:

Q: What cannot be placed into the garbage carts?
A: Tires, Ashes, Florescent Light Bulbs, Appliances, Electronics, Pesticide Containers, Asbestos, Brush/Compost, Liquid Cleaners, Metals, Paint, Medical Waste, Oil Filters, Batteries, Industrial Waste, Carcasses, Brick/Cement/Shingles, and Hazardous Waste.

      

Notice:“You may be responsible for any liability that results from contamination at a facility where your waste has been deposited. Minnesota believes that its waste management system provides substantially more financial and environmental protection than depositing waste in landfills in other states. Managing your waste in Minnesota may minimize your potential liability.”

 

Q:  Where should the garbage/recycling cart be placed on day of pickup?
A:   - Cart should be placed out by 7:00 AM the day of pickup
    - Be located 1 to 2 inches from curb or end of driveway
    - All material must be in the cart with the lid closed. Material left outside of your cart or stacked on top will not be picked up.
    - Cart should be 5 feet away from all obstructions, including cars, poles, and at least one foot away from additional carts.

 

Notice: Hometown Sanitation is not responsible for damages that a cart or dumpster may cause while in the customer's possession.  We strongly encourage you to secure your dumpster to avoid the dumpster from moving.

Q: What should I do with large bulky items that don’t fit in the garbage?
A: Contact Hometown today and we can help you figure out the best solution to get rid of those bulky items. We can be reached at 877-545-4877.

Q: How do the Hometown tags work?
A: Purchase the tags at the locations where they are sold in your community and place them on the bag or cart not to exceed 20 or 30 gallons in size or 50 lbs in weight. Each container (bags, cans or bundles) must have a sticker attached. 

Q: What is the weight limit on Hometown bags?

A: 50 pounds

Q: Does Hometown charge surcharges?
A: No, at Hometown we are proud to say we do NOT have surcharges. There are no hidden fees!

Billing Questions:

Q: What is Hometown's Cancellation Policy?
A: You can cancel your Hometown Service at anytime. Just give us a call.

Q: What is Hometown's Refund Policy?
A: If you cancel your Hometown Service, we will refund any unused service amounts.

Q: Will Hometown charge me a late fee if my bill is not paid within 30 days?
A: If full payment of the invoiced amount is not received within 30 days of the invoice date, customers will be charged a monthly service fee of 1.5% of the unpaid amount, with a minimum monthly charge of $5.00.
